The Big Chill
Drove by the local High School today and, unlike where I come from, despite the fact that there's 6" of snow on the ground and temps dipped to below zero overnight, school was actually still in session. Ha! What a novel idea (said with a slight bit of sarcasm).

Tales From a Reliable Source
Before the thaw of spring, everyone gathered at the river for the annual community event, ice cutting day! That's when the men used special ice cutting tools to cut through the 2-3 feet of ice thickness. A special lunch was provided by the ladies. At the end of the day, each family took home a large chunk of the Sheyenne River for their underground 'refrigeration' that lastest well into summer.

Color Dance
Es la hora del almuerzo! It's Lunchtime! As sunlight poured in through the restaurant windows, I loved how the reflection of the curtains on the brick wall looked.

Stay Warm, Be Happy

Winter Lois Lane
Notice 'the wash' at the bottom of the hill that I've mentioned before. In summer downpours, the water fills in and crosses the road there bringing with it a lot of sand. Makes getting home rather interesting sometimes.

Off-Grid Realities
A few cold, cloudy days in a row and, whooosh, there goes the power... brrr! Apparently, Old Man Winter is like that here, just a bit on the challenging side.

Snowman's Plea
Sun, sun, go away. Please don't shine on me today. Why are you in such a rush to turn me into sloppy slush. Sun, sun, can't you see, that your heat is melting me..

The Mighty Redwoods
Yes, it's impossible to convey the immensity in a photograph...
The redwoods, once seen, leave a mark that stays with you always. No one has ever successfully photographed a redwood tree. ~John Steinbeck

Eyes on You
I quickly turned and made a 180 heading for safety as he was just a little too close for comfort.
